I didn’t always think this way, but count me very firmly in the “Ersson is what his numbers say he is” group. I’m so tired of hearing excuses about his save percentage.

I’m not quite there yet, but the other night I started to refer to him as fetch. not in the go fetch the puck behind you sense, while that works, but in the sense of stop trying to make fetch happen.

I got there last year with Ersson. I have never seen more excuses where a goalie is concerned. He is a number two at best and struggles in not allowing a weak/weird goal every single game. Enough is enough, this year should be his last as we will soon have 3 other options.

Excellent analysis of Michkov’s ice time issues, Charlie. However, I add to it the coach’s comments about having to get both Andrae and Grebenkin more time, which he has not done. I realise they are both rookies and have their warts, but if he’s going to say it, then do it. If not, quit saying it. He is the head coach after all, and in charge ultimately of such in-game decisions. Thoughts?

Yeah I am starting to not trust his words especially where young players are concerned. He just seems to want to play only vets so far. No young player is getting any ice time. I am excluding Zegras of course.

Great article, Charlie, very informative! Your question is also one I am grappling with myself: “ What does Michkov have to do in order to earn more shifts?” Tocchet seems hell bent on giving out ice time to a select group. I agree where Zegras is concerned but disagree with how much Tippett and TK get every single night without fail. It seems very deliberate and calculating. I am also sensing a bias here regardless of the words he says, they are not adding up. Ice time is what he as the head coach controls and he is withholding it from various players who are producing. Who determines callups, the GM or HC? They have also been curious as well.
