Tocchet already knows this, but he better figure out how to get Michkov more minutes, more opportunities, the right line mates, because he is their best offensive skill player and something is not working. Defense does not win, goal scoring wins. Maybe he needs to let Michkov play looser. More freedom from rigid system demands. Lengthen the leash. 2 to 1 games are not doing anyone any good.

I am not worried about Michkov. Maybe it was the ankle injury or maybe he just wasn’t in shape either way as long as the kid learns something from the situation. Or maybe he is learning another lesson that extremely talented youngsters all learn I think. Talent alone is not going to push you to the next level. You can’t just show up and think your talent is going to win it for you. No one fears Michkov. Coaches now have an idea how to defend him. Talented players work hard to attain that great player status. Ask Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaital, Nate McKinnon, Cale Maker. Ball is in your court Matvei.

I couldn’t agree more with your observations especially your apt description of Foerster’s goal, “fool’s gold.” This is the game that started the Dvorak line being the best line on the ice. Hopefully it stays that way…
