I’ve said for years that this team is more talented than they are given credit for, and hamstrung by poor coaching/usage of their young players. They’re continuing to prove it.

But so long as they continue to dress Nick Deslauriers every single night, I really can’t take the team seriously. Whether that’s a reflection of continued mis-coaching, or a subtle organizational effort to tank by keeping better players in the AHL to develop, or a combination of both (most likely?)… if they want to be taken seriously as a playoff contender they have to actually try to compete like one. Dressing Deslauriers and a seventh defenseman and scratching Lycksell last night is not seriously trying to compete.

Also, let’s not forget they faced a third string goalie who was waived two months ago and playing just his 5th game of the year. Not so sure the Avalanche took the Flyers seriously enough, reminiscent of that run the Flyers went on in like February/March last season where they defeated a series of backup goalies and got a little full of themselves.
