Anything. I mean anything that could help this wretched PP I have interest. If they can’t improve it the Flyers should just start declining the PP advantage. Yes! It is that bad.

10 million would make me think twice

Our PP has been so awful that 10 million a year seems like a steal if the PP improves tremendously.

I don’t really care too much about the price for two years, but I share your concern about hamstringing Briere for a blockbuster. Still, likely benefits outweigh that low-potential scenario.

We need to see if Jiricek has real upside, so I guess Bonk has to bide his time if they don’t trade Risto. They will trade Risto if they sign Carlson, though.

Exciting! I’m so tired of reading fan comments salivating over bad fits like Matthews, Larkin, and Malkin. This is a great fit.

I’d rather they prioritise Bonk and Jiricek’s development. Add Seeler (to pair with Jiri), Sanheim and Drysdale, and that’s 5 slots filled – Andrae becomes a good #7 then.

Carlson only makes sense if they trade both Risto and York, I feel. This also has the benefit of freeing up enough salary that adding Carlson doesn’t affect their cap flexibility.

Adding Carlson makes Risto and Seeler unnecessary (I’m a big fan of both—makes me sad to write that). Andrae is obviously not a good fit for what Briere wants, so he’s gone this summer (I like the guy, but that’s how it is).

Jiricek is anything but a sure thing, so you can be sure Briere has a backup plan. That plan does not involve Risto, Seeler, or Andrae.

I don’t think they will get rid of York except as part of a package. Briere has always been a fan of his game and made a point at a season ticket holder event of mentioning York’s weight ins response to a complaint about small defensemen—206. Everyone was surprised. Must have some thick legs.

You pose a compelling case for bringing John Carlson aboard. The fix to the power play is which is anything but powerful is the most attractive reason. He is such a good player who despite his age remains very productive. A 1-2 year deal is ideal as you have stated, sign me up!
