Great coverage of the Cates injury, its implications to the Flyers lineup for this series, and their options as a team! I really hope that the team can rally around this loss of an integral player such as Cates but with Tippet already out it may prove to be one loss to many. Add in their current standing in this series, it does not look promising. However, the Flyers have proven to be a resilient bunch and until I see otherwise, I will remain faithful in their ability to absorb this injury. Go Flyers!!

I would move Coots up in the lineup and have Glendening at 4C with Grundstrom and Hathaway. Coots has been your best player. It’s the playoffs. Go big or go home. Dvorak, Barkey, Coots and Glendening at center. Keep Zegras at wing.

With the way the series has played out, the Flyers are both inexperienced and outmatched. No shame in that—they were not expected to be in this situation for another year or two. Still, I’d love to hear what Briere has to say in terms of lessons learned and where the team needs to improve and the plan moving forward.

I don’t think a healthy Tippett or Cates would have saved this team—especially when the designated scorers aren’t scoring.
