The skillet sounds really good.

I was worried about the 2nd line/50 point projection because the Flyers already have 2 such players (Tippett and Foerster – ok, 43 points each last season, but not hard to imagine them getting 50 with a legit top 6 center).

But then I realized that was the floor. If he can develop into an 80 point winger who can score and set up players, that would be a shot worth taking.

I hope the Flyers don’t get into the habit of reaching for centers (I don’t know if they genuinely had Luchanko as the BPA or the best center). Talent is talent – accumulate it where you can.

Yeh, if Hagens is not there he might well be BPA if gets there.

Does sound better than a bunch of forwards with question marks to their game, doesn’t it?

That I think is the big temptation if he gets there. In the entire draft Misa is the only guy who feels more like a “sure thing”. (though Schaefer and Frondell have high floors too)

With some of the others – I think there is a second tier to the risk: ability to produce in the playoffs, when the physicality rachets up several notches.

I don’t envy Briere and the scouting department.

So we have a sniper Center (Frondell…personally my top target) and a playmaking Winger in the top 6. Not something you see every year, ha.

Another excellent article Alex!

Thanks Chris!

Watch this space in next week or so for Desnoyers and Hagens break-downs too.

There’s a close to 0% chance he’s there for the Flyers, right? Teams typically go nuts for this kind of size/skill combo. I’d be shocked if he made it past 4.

I would have thought so a few months ago…

but now a lot of talk that it will go Schaefer, Misa, Frondell top 3… and then maybe Desnoyers and Hagens at 4-5 (with maybe Martin if Utah go off board)…

so maybe a chance. Albeit unlikely.

One of Frondell, Hagens, Martone or Desnoyers will be there…

So my order of preference at 6 (for Flyers) after a month of draft research/stalking (not including Schaefer n Misa…)

1. Martone
2. Hagens
3. Desnoyers
4. Brady Martin
5. Frondell

Great job Alex. always awesome stuff..
I could see Martone going 3 or 4 I know people are saying change might pick different, who really knows ( especially after the panthers). Also like all mock drafts that’s what they are mocks…on the night anything can happen you never know.
What are your top 5 picks excluding Schafer and misa for the flyers?

Thanks Puckhound!

My 3-7 spots are Hagens, Martone, Frondell, Desnoyer, Eklund in terms of BPA.

Yes that’s exactly where i am at too. I go back and forth between frondell and Martone at 2-3 but same list.Should be getting a great player at 6th regardless.
