Another article posted right when I go to check in the morning
Happy days

Cale Caufield 😂 Anyways. Initially hearing that Zegras is only getting to be the Center a THIRD of the time was super disheartening, but looking at your actual game by game break down gives me a bit more hope. If in the Florida game he got 0 reps, maybe we can say that the hybrid system wasn’t fully in place yet. If we only count the Jets and Wild, suddenly Zegras is playing Center half of the time which seems more reasonable.

Great article by Charlie. God this team just cannot be normal for 20 seconds, can they? If they’ve already given up on Zegras at center, what was even the point? I get that they’re pretending they haven’t given up but, come on, it’s been three games. This is why people wanted a more interesting coach rather than the guy they knew.

I get that winning games is the entire purpose, but this type of win now approach just doesn’t seem like it should be this organization’s focus right now. They talk about getting these guys ready to be the best versions of themselves 3-4-5 years down the road, and then hire a coach who is shortening the bench 3 games in and playing his best defenseman 27 minutes. I didn’t feel good about Tocchet when he was hired, and 5 games in it is baring out exactly like Vancouver fans suggested

I believe this last sentence sums up the Flyers plan to insert Zegras at center: “But he has to grow into being a center, too.” They are allowing Zegras to re-learn the center position and how they want it played while swapping duties with Dvorak. I think that Zegras has a realistic chance to stick at center, if he continues to improve. Thank you for sorting this all out for us, Charlie!

My thoughts as well. This is in fact a great way to have your cake and eat it too – we can win games AND give Zegras not only the time but the opportunities to work on his game.
Let him keep working with the other centers on the team, like how he sought out Coots for faceoff advice, and keep developing his center play. Eventually, I have faith it will work out for the best for everyone, and Zegras will become a mainstay at center for the O&B for many years to come.
