Jack McGlynn took major steps forward for club and country in 2023 and was rewarded graciously in the process.

McGlynn was one of five nominees named by U.S. Soccer for the annual Young Male Player of the Year award. The Philadelphia Union homegrown midfielder is joined by Gianluca Busio, Nimfasha Berchimas, Kevin Paredes, and Ben Cremaschi in the running for the award.

The 20-year-old just completed his third MLS season with the Union, setting new career-highs in appearances, starts, minutes played, and goals. McGlynn made 30 combined league appearances in 2023, scoring two goals and registering three assists.

Not only was McGlynn a mainstay with the Union, but he also was with the U.S. Under-20 and Under-23 men’s national teams. He appeared in all five of the team’s matches at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup as the Americans reached the quarterfinals.

McGlynn has since appeared in all four matches with the Under-23’s, as Marko Mitrovic’s squad prepares for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

Voting began on Monday, Dec. 11 at noon ET and concludes on Monday, Dec. 18 at noon ET. The winners will be announced in January 2024 and fans can vote here:
