As his 99th and final pitch landed in left fielder Max Kepler’s grasp, Jesus Luzardo looked appreciatively to the heavens. He clapped his hands together and clutched his glove to his heart.
Clearly, what had just transpired on the pitcher’s mound Wednesday afternoon at Citizens Bank Park meant an awful lot to the thoughtful 27-year-old left-hander.
