The Philadelphia Flyers may have lost a preseason game on Monday night. But given the disparity in roster quality, a close 4-3 defeat was far from an embarrassment.
Facing the New York Islanders, the Flyers chose to send something of a "B-team" roster to Long Island. There were a few established NHLers who dressed for the game -- Joel Farabee, Scott Laughton, Noah Cates, Ryan Poehling and Rasmus Ristolainen certainly qualify -- but the Philadelphia lineup was largely filled with AHL-level players. On the other hand, New York chose to dress something close to their opening night lineup, with nearly all of their stars sans goalie Ilya Sorokin.
