TAMPA -- Well, it happened.
In the 14th game of his rookie season with the Philadelphia Flyers, Matvei Michkov has been scratched by head coach John Tortorella.
"Just part of the process," Tortorella said twice after morning skate when asked to elaborate on the decision to sit the 19-year old.
The fact that Tortorella was willing to scratch Michkov -- generally viewed as the organization's top young player and their best hope to become a top-of-the-lineup superstar -- shouldn't come as a surprise. Scratching players, after all, is just what John Tortorella does. He's already sat Tyson Foerster, Bobby Brink and Egor Zamula this season, and not-so-subtly hinted that he's come close to pulling...
