At this level, most top 6 type players have the talent.

I am increasingly coming around to the idea that a lot of times, what separates a potential 1C-type talent like Frost from a true 1C, or a potential 40-goal scorer like Tippett from an actual 40 goal scorer, is consistency. Yes, they will have slumps but those slumps are shorter. They wont miss as many goal-scoring opportunities, etc.

Obviously, a small-but-critical difference in talent also contributes to that increased consistency, but i wonder to what degree it can be mitigated by efffort (speaking about top of the lineup players here, not checking forwards).

I don’t think Frost was ever viewed by anyone as a 1C talent. His likely ceiling was, from what I read, 2C and it doesn’t appear like he’ll hit that, he seems like a bottom 6 guy on a Stanley Cup team.

My first thought with Frost is that the phrase “maddeningly inconsistent” was designed specifically for him. He’ll flash a moment of brilliance, then go through long stretches when he becomes weirdly passive and just disappear into the background.

I hope he gets enough momentum going to make him an attractive trade piece by the deadline, because if he’s signed to a long-term deal here, we’re in trouble.

Any chance there is a youngish talented center (potential 1C) a non-playoff team would be interested in trading for one or more 1st round picks (Flyers have 3) at the trade deadline?

Zegras? I think Torts would eat him alive though. I think the Flyers have to take some risks on an underachiever some where. Probably why they have also been linked to Jiricek.

O`Conner articles like this are the reason to subscribe to this site. You just can’t get in depth information on the team like this anywhere else. When Charlie is on, there is none better. Excellent stuff!

I literally joined to read this article.

Interested to see what happens with Frost. He’s likley not a fit, and you probably want to trade him before you owe him a contract. But what is the trade value with Frost? Can’t imagine he brings you back a top 6 player.
