Just under two minutes into Joel Embiid's highly anticipated season debut, the Philadelphia 76ers star received a pass at the top of the key from Kelly Oubre Jr. After an unusually feisty Karl-Anthony Towns swiped the ball away, Embiid regained control of the ball, used a single dribble to get himself back in rhythm and confidently rose up to shoot a three over Towns' outstretched arms, looking to return the favor after New York's big man drained a pair of 3s over Embiid to start New York's scoring.
Embiid's shot came up short, clanging off the front rim and into the hands of Josh Hart.
The shot, meaningless in the grand scheme of things, turned out to be a bad omen for Embiid and the 76ers....
