WILKES-BARRE -- The Lehigh Valley Phantoms kicked off their run at the 2025 Calder Cup playoffs last night with the first game of their best-of-three series against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, and they came away with just about as commanding of an opening win as they might have drawn up.
They jumped out to an early lead and didn’t relinquish control of this game, at least not in a meaningful way, for the whole span of it. Combining sound efforts from their defense with the long-awaited run support finally arriving, the Phantoms came away with an altogether pretty tidy 5-2 victory, and a chance to punch their ticket to the next round come their home game tomorrow.
