The MLB Rule 5 draft -- the ultimate "diamond in the rough" event in sports -- will take place this Wednesday, December 11th at 2 pm EST.
On that day, Major League teams like the Philadelphia Phillies will fork over $100,000 to select a player left unprotected from another team's 40-man roster.
