Trade Bohm for Orioles catcher Rutschman, hand 3B to Miller this year and let him grow in the majors. Take the $10 mil and sign Bader. Then go find another strong bullpen piece. Garcia for RF is not a terrible move, and improves the defense and at least is breakeven with the offense with potential for a RH power upgrade.

Weak sauce here. There’s plenty to criticize Dombrowski, but using deadline moves that didn’t pan out makes no sense. Most deadlines moves don’t. Sure he could’ve mortgaged the future for a player that marginally improved their playoff odds, but then we’d hear how foolish it was to trade away prospects while not winning the World Series. I’d love to see a year by year breakdown of the mid-season trades he should’ve made. I’d guess the list would be fairly lacking.

He’s made mistakes, but Dombrowski has also put together a team that’s been a legit championship contender for 5 years.
