Cristopher Sánchez is officially the NL Pitcher of the Month for May 2026 — and it’s easy to see why. Sánchez went the entire month of May without allowing a single earned run, going 4-0 with a 0.00 ERA over five starts. He became the first pitcher since Orel Hershiser in 1988 to make at least five starts in a calendar month without allowing a run, and enters June with a streak of 44⅔ consecutive scoreless innings — the seventh-longest streak of all time. This man is chasing history! On top of that, the Phillies went into San Diego and absolutely DOMINATED the Padres, sweeping all three games with scores of 4-3, 3-0, and 3-0. In the series finale, Sánchez pitched seven brilliant innings, extending his scoreless streak and passing Hall of Famer Grover Cleveland Alexander for the Philadelphia Phillies franchise record. And let’s talk about Aaron Nola — the bounce-back is REAL. Nola has posted a .175 BAA, 0 walks, and 13 strikeouts over his last 11 innings across three straight strong starts, leaning heavily into a new pitch mix. He turned in one of his strongest starts of the season during the Padres series, and even Trea Turner had a big night breaking out of an 0-for-18 slump. Is Nola finally putting it all together?
