The Philadelphia Phillies keep finding ways to win — and they just did it in dramatic fashion at Fenway Park. Don Mattingly’s Phillies have now won FIVE straight series since he took over as interim manager on April 28, going an incredible 11-3 in that stretch and slowly clawing their way back toward .500. But this series win came with extra drama. Jesús Luzardo squared off against former Phillies ace Ranger Suárez — now in a Red Sox uniform after signing a 5-year, $140 million deal with Boston — in one of the most emotionally charged pitching matchups of the 2026 season. Two lefties, two brothers on opposite sides. Luzardo answered the call, tossing six scoreless innings to outlast Suárez, silencing questions about whether the Phillies made the right call picking him over their old friend. And then there’s Kyle Schwarber. The man simply will not stop hitting home runs. Schwarber launched his MLB-leading 18th homer of the season — his 7th in 7 games — to break the scoreless tie and put the Phillies ahead for good in a 3-1 win. He’s now tied a Phillies franchise record by going deep in five consecutive games, joining legends like Mike Schmidt, Dick Allen, Bobby Abreu, Chase Utley, and Trea Turner. We break it all down today — Mattingly’s winning formula, what the Luzardo vs. Suárez showdown tells us about the Phillies’ rotation future, and just how far Schwarber can take this historic hot streak.
