With no Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, Paul George and Caleb Martin, the shorthanded Philadelphia 76ers (15-23) battled until the final whistle against Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Jalen Williams and the Oklahoma City Thunder (33-6), ultimately falling 118-102. Two-way rookie Justin Edwards led the undermanned Sixers with a career-high 25 points, connecting on four of his nine tries from beyond. Down by as many as 21 points, the 76ers cut it four early in the fourth, but OKC turned it up to pull away. Philadelphia will host the New York Knicks on Wednesday night for the second game of the team’s back-to-back.
