Despite big performances by Tyrese Maxey, Quentin Grimes and Kelly Oubre Jr, the Sixers couldn’t get enough stops down the stretch and fell to the Atlanta Hawks 125-116, as the Sixers dropped to 0-4 against the Hawks this season. The loss drops the Sixers into 8th place in the Eastern Conference, meaning they would be forced to compete in the Play-In Tournament if the season ended today.

The Hawks were led by Jalen Johnson, who finished with 35 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists. Nickeil Alexander-Walker added 24, with Onyeka Okongwu, CJ McCollum and Dyson Daniels all finishing in double figures.

Tyrese Maxey appeared to hurt his right hand after colliding with Adem Bona in the final seconds of the game. The Sixers are already playing without Joel Embiid (oblique), VJ Edgecombe (lumbar) and Paul George (suspension).
