The Philadelphia 76ers lost a 116-115 heartbreaker in overtime to the Raptors, in their first of two back-to-back matchups in Toronto. Scottie Barnes hit the game-winning free-throw with less than a second left in OT to give the Raptors the win, mere moments after VJ Edgecombe’s clutch step-back three tied the game with the shot clock unplugged.
The Sixers had a chance to win the game in regulation, with Tyrese Maxey’s step-back three giving the Sixers a four point lead with 20 seconds left. But after the Raptors scored to cut the lead to two, the Sixers failed to get the ball inbounds, paving the way for the Raptors to send the game to overtime.
The Sixers were led by 38 points and five assists from Tyrese Maxey, with 25 of his points coming after the half. Toronto was led by Scottie Barnes, who finished with 31 points, six rebounds and seven assists. The two teams will meet again, in Toronto, on Saturday, with the availability of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Brandon Ingram still to be determined.
