VJ Edgecombe and Justin Edwards both set new career-highs on Thursday night, leading the Philadelphia 76ers to a blowout win over DeMar DeRozan, Russell Westbrook and the Sacramento Kings.
VJ Edgecombe finished with 38 points and 11 assists, becoming just the fourth rookie in Sixers history to finish a game with 30+ points and 10+ assists. It was Edgecombe’s first 30+ point game since he dropped 34 on the Boston Celtics on opening night. Edwards finished with 32 points, well above his previous career-high of 25. Edwards and Edgecombe were a +47 and +44 in the win, respectively.
Their standout performances gave the Sixers a crucial win, as they try to avoid the play-in tournament with a strong finish down the stretch. They should be bolstered by the return of Joel Embiid, who was doubtful for this game before being ruled out following a workout earlier today. Embiid seems to be progressing well, and should hopefully be able to join the team soon.
