Rick Tocchet season has officially commenced. And the Philadelphia Flyers are looking like they'll be one of the main characters.
On Tuesday afternoon, what has long been rumored was officially confirmed by the Vancouver Canucks -- Tocchet will no longer be their head coach. Tocchet had one more season of a team option left on his contract, but the Canucks chose not to exercise it and instead aimed to convince Tocchet to sign an extension with the club. Tocchet, however, ultimately made the decision that he wanted to leave Vancouver, and seek employment elsewhere.
Philadelphia very much qualifies as "elsewhere" -- especially for Tocchet.
