Salisbury: Kyle Schwarber, ‘the ultimate winner,’ makes his case to be a Phillie for a long time

The most interesting subplot of this Phillies season came to the plate in the bottom of the sixth inning Monday night. Kyle Schwarber had grounded out and flied out in his first two at-bats as his streak of reaching base safely hovered at 46 games.
It seems only a matter of time before Schwarber reaches base these days and, sure enough, he extended the streak to 47 games with a base hit to center field on a 2-1 slider from St. Louis Cardinals’ lefty Matthew Liberatore. Two batters later, Schwarber scored on a fielder’s choice by J.T. Realmuto, tying the game at 2-2.
