Otto Kemp spent a good chunk of the last two summers playing for Phillies’ minor-league teams within a couple hours’ drive of Citizens Bank Park. Tempted as he was, he never jumped in the car and made his way over to the ballpark for a little taste of the atmosphere he dreamed of one day experiencing as a player.
“I just tried to keep it special,” he said. “Just tried to keep it something that I get to do on the first day I make it to the big leagues. It was kind of just a little bit of motivation to keep me pushing and get to this point.”
