Ranger Suarez is usually a master in the art of executing pitches with pinpoint precision and location. To have as much success as he does without lighting up radar guns, you have to be.
On Sunday, however, Suarez didn’t execute jack squat.
“My command was awful,” he said after getting knocked around by the Los Angeles Angels at Citizens Bank Park.
A check of the tape shows that Suarez did make at least one pretty good pitch. It came with two outs in the top of the second inning with the bases loaded and Mike Trout at the plate. Suarez threw Trout a full-count fastball at the top of the strike zone. The pitch was right there. Suarez should have been out of the inning with one run against him...
