The Sixers’ season is over, and they need a mental reset

Tyrese Maxey, Philadelphia's human ray of sunshine, has been a snapshot of how quickly things have turned for the Sixers this year. Before being shut down due to injury, Maxey was open about the mental burden of navigating this lost season, often taking the floor as the lone star without the big-name vets to help him. As the team's hole grew deeper, smiles and celebrations faded into scowls and complaints.
Maxey summed up the Sixers' season on Sunday afternoon in a sentence, using just eight words to tell a much deeper story.
"I think we all need a mental break," Maxey admitted during his exit interview.
