The Philadelphia Union bolstered their left back options in the form of one of MLS NEXT Pro’s standouts.
Isaiah LeFlore signed a one-year contract with the Union on Tuesday, the club announced. The 21-year-old’s contract runs through 2024, and also includes club options for 2025, 2026, and 2027.
“Through his recent play in USL and MLS NEXT Pro, Isaiah is a promising young prospect with potential to fit well in our system,” said Philadelphia Union Sporting Director, Ernst Tanner. “He’s an offensive minded left back who is ready to test himself at the next level, and we look forward to contributing to his development.”
LeFlore spent the last two years with Houston Dynamo 2, where he totaled 36 appearances, six goals, and six assists. In the recent 2023 campaign with Dynamo Dos, LeFlore registered the most assists among all defenders in the league (6), as well as leading the team in tackles (33), interceptions (52), and duels (272).
Prior to signing with the Dynamo in 2022, LeFlore played for S.C. Braga’s reserve team in Portugal’s Liga 3. Additionally, he featured for Sporting Kansas City II from 2020 to 2022 and Portuguese side AD Oeiras from 2016-2019.
He is a former U.S. Under-15 boys national team player.
LeFlore joins Matt Real in the left back ranks of the Union squad, while star left back Kai Wagner remains unsigned for 2024. Wagner has been linked with an exit from the Union for most of the year.
