Philadelphia Union sporting director Ernst Tanner is already preparing his squad for 2024 and beyond.
Sanders Ngabo has signed a two-year contract with the Union from Danish club Lyngby, which will begin in 2024. Ngabo’s contract will also include a pair of option years for 2026 and 2027.
He will occupy an international roster slot on the Union’s roster.
“Sanders is a young, promising midfielder with a strong potential to do well in our system,” said Tanner. “Once rated a top Danish talent, we believe he’ll have the resources and direction needed to succeed and flourish in this environment. We look forward to welcoming him to the team and watching him develop.”
The 19-year-old made 29 appearances for Lyngby, registering two assists and scoring one goal. His professional career began at Sundby BK before moving to Lyngby’s youth academy in 2021.
He made his first-team debut in July 2021 and proceeded to sign a three-year contract that August. Ngabo played a key role in Lyngby’s second-place finish in the Danish second-tier, which helped secure promotion to the Danish Superliga.
Internationally, Ngabo has earned four caps for the Denmark Under-19 men’s national team and two caps for the Under-18 squad. He recently earned his first Under-20 call up earlier this month.
The Union’s MLS Cup Playoff run continues on November 25 at No. 1 seed FC Cincinnati (8 p.m ET).
